Quick gist

About the stay

  • The quirkiness of an old house is reflected in each room being a different size, with no consistency at all.
  • The Vintage furniture was sourced over many years from homes that were being brought down.
  • Every bed, table, and chair came in different shapes and sizes, so no two rooms are alike.

Where is this?

  • Pondicherry is a little seaside town on the south-eastern coastline of India, 160km south of Chennai, which used to be a French enclave and even today retains much of this Franco-Tamil spirit.
  • Just a few steps away from the gates of property is the Muthalamman Temple, dedicated to Goddess Shakthi (Power).
  • At the other end of Vannier Street, after you cross a variety of small huts and houses and a tailoring shop, there is the Sri Aurobindo Centre for Advanced Research with an inconspicuously small facade.
  • Once a year, sometime in early March, all the GODS of Pondicherry come out of their temples and are brought to the beach at Vaithikuppam for a ceremonial bath.
  • As you walk down from the property to North Boulevard, you will see some adorable little windows from where housewives run little grocery stores.
